Adjustable vision glasses feature a small dial on each side of the frame that changes the focus of the lens. For many, a single pair can stand in for several pairs of readers.
Where they shine
- Reading up close when near focus has softened with age (presbyopia).
- Moving between distances — a novel, a laptop, the room beyond.
- A dependable spare for the car, the desk or travel.
Where they don't
- Most designs do not correct astigmatism.
- Each model offers a limited range of strengths.
- The sharpest area of view can be narrower than prescription lenses.
